Environmental Technician I-III

Compensation: $19 - $29 hourly

Qualifications

• Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED, a valid driver's license (CDL preferred for higher tiers), and reliable transportation, with baseline physical capabilities including regular lifting up to 50 lbs and comfort with protective gear and respirators. Background and certification requirements scale with experience: entry-level candidates require foundational safety credentials (OSHA 10, AEP, NIMS ICS 100/700), while advanced-level candidates require proven industry experience and specialized certifications, including HAZWOPER, Confined Space Entry, IDEM UST Class C, advanced NIMS training, OSRO qualifications, or designated trainer credentials.
• Ability to wear protective suits (Class C for Level I; Class B for Levels II/III) and respirators (half-face or full-face).
• Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions and tolerance for strong odors associated with industrial waste streams.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hand and power tools.
• Proficiency using smartphones or tablets for digital daily logs and forms.
• Close attention to detail with an unwavering focus on job-site safety and hazard recognition.

Responsibilities

• Across all levels, Environmental Technicians deliver hands-on industrial cleaning, remediation, and emergency spill response services while ensuring strict safety and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities scale based on experience and certifications:
• Field Operations & Labor: Performing hands-on tasks ranging from basic power washing, material movement, and sampling to complex hazardous waste handling, site remediation, and confined space entry.
• Equipment Operation & Maintenance: Operating light machinery like forklifts and mini-excavators, advancing to specialized assets such as vacuum trucks, manlifts, and dump trucks, alongside field troubleshooting and minor repairs.
• Safety, Compliance & Leadership: Following core safety guidelines and reporting hazards, executing regulatory-compliant material management and air monitoring, and serving as a Job Safety Leader, emergency response point person, and staff trainer.
• Documentation & Logistics: Logging daily field activities via mobile CRM tools, supporting job staging and inventory, and overseeing critical regulatory documentation, including waste profiles, manifests, and Bills of Lading.
