Job Description
As Surgical Services Director, you will:
- Lead and oversee day-to-day operations and patient care within the surgical services department.
- Provide hands-on patient care as needed while supporting the clinical team.
- Promote a strong culture of patient safety, quality, teamwork, and accountability.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and improve departmental policies and procedures.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and support surgical services staff.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet patient care and operational needs.
- Maintain a safe, clean, sterile, and fully operational surgical environment.
- Promote responsible and cost-effective use of supplies, equipment, and resources.
- Serve as a key liaison between hospital departments, leadership, and external surgical providers.
- Collaborate with hospital leaders to strengthen communication, coordination, and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor surgical volume, outcomes, productivity, quality metrics, and departmental costs.
- Identify opportunities to enhance and grow surgical services.
- Develop and manage the department’s annual budget and monitor ongoing financial performance.
- Ensure departmental practices align with JCHC policies, professional standards, Universal Precautions, OSHA requirements, and industry best practices.
