GENERAL SUMMARY:
Location: Detroit, MI (Moross)
The pharmacy intern actively participates in all aspects of the drug distribution system and works with pharmacists in providing clinical services for patients in his/her assigned area. In accordance with Michigan law, interns always work under the direct
supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Dispenses unit dose, intravenous admixtures, and other pharmaceuticals for subsequent administration to patients
Interprets physician medication orders and clarifies any unclear orders
Identifies and monitors the pharmaceutical needs of patients
Reviews patient charts and/or interviews the patient, physician, or nurse to obtain information for medication records and profiles.
Reviews drug related information to identify potential problems regarding drug therapy and recommends appropriate solutions to those problems
Provides drug and poison information for patients, physicians, nurses and other health care professionals
Performs other duties as needed

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Must be enrolled or a graduate from a school or college of Pharmacy
- Must be licensed as a Pharmacy Intern by the Michigan Board of Pharmacy
- Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and courteously with patients, physicians, nurses and other HFH staff
- Must possess a pleasant personality, be able to relate to and work with professional and technical staff recognizing the hybrid nature of this position
