What are the responsibilities and job description for the Administrative Fellow position at Inova Health System?
The Inova Health System Administrative Fellowship Program is an administrative and leadership development program designed to advance the organization’s transformation. The program provides exposure to health care management and leadership development to highly qualified early careerists through a 12-month rotational program and structured learning series. Fellows are partnered with senior level preceptors and mentors to foster their learning while also leading priority work for Inova. Program rotations across administration, operations, strategy, and the clinical enterprise will serve as robust learning opportunities to foster an understanding of overall health system governance, leadership and operations.
Job Responsibilities:
- Every administrative fellow will complete (2) four-month rotations within one of Inova’s Service Lines. The fellow will work closely with the service line leadership to gain exposure to understanding the administrative, operational and improvement aspects within their specific opportunity.
- Fellows will work with increasing autonomy and responsibility to produce various deliverables or lead various teams prior to completing the program.
- Each fellow will have the opportunity to gain operational experiences within various sites of care. As a comprehensive health system, it is important Inova’s fellows understand the enterprise-wide impact when Inova’s executive leadership make decisions. Each fellow will have the opportunity to experience the Inova Health System through attendance of enterprise-wide committees and meetings.
Requirements:
- MHA, MHSA, MPH, MBA with emphasis in healthcare management from a CAHME accredited program
- On track to earn graduate degree by end of 2022/2023 academic year, or students in a graduate academic program requiring fellowship/residency experience as part of curriculum
- Healthcare industry experience such as an internship, externship, fellowship, or applicable employment
- Possesses a broad knowledge of current & historical perspectives on: Healthcare business management & administration, clinical practice management, hospital administration and management, finance, human resources and organizational development, managed care, information systems
- Possess a high degree of analytic ability
- Demonstrates ability to manage multiple priorities
- Driven by personal values that are consistent with system’s values with a focus on the best interest of the system
