What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Health and Safety Manager position at INOAC EXTERIOR SYSTEMS?
JOB SUMMARY:The EHS Manager is responsible for all environmental (EPA) and safety aspects for the company. The EHS Manager must keep the facility up-to-date and in governmental compliance with the associated Federal, State, and Local regulations and to implement any corporate/customer goals which are driven by the EHS Department. The EHS Manager is the point of contact with outside agencies such as OSHA and EPA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinate shipments of Hazardous and Non-Hazardous waste generated by the facility.
2. Submit all annual reports as required by regulatory agencies such as EPA and OSHA.
3. Advise management on permitting issues with new / old processes or equipment in order to minimize liability from violating any existing permit issues and/or from violating local, state, and federal regulations.
4. Submit all required quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports to the appropriate agencies.
5. Maintain database of water permits and all the information pertaining to monthly, quarterly, and annual samplings required by the regulatory agency.
6. Manage and monitor environmental management system to enable the company to move forward in this competitive business and help illustrate our commitment to the environment.
7. Measure and disseminate relevant legal requirements to the appropriate level in the organization, especially Plant Manager and Departmental Managers.
8. Conduct required training for all environmental items as needed.
9. Oversee maintenance of EHS programs and overall safety practices and reporting for the facility.
10. Maintain ISO Certifications and schedule/conduct audits for continued certification.
11. Maintain compliance with the Title V Clean Air Act.
12. Develop direct reports and manage departmental performance.
13. Keep direct reports regularly informed (through department meetings and one on one discussions of company policies, practices, and procedures and ensure corrective action is promptly taken when required).
14. Ensure employees have sufficient job training and information to efficiently perform their tasks.
15. Other assignments or tasks as requested by the Plant Manager.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Safety or Industrial Hygiene from an accredited University.
2. 5 years related progressive EHS experience.
3. Must understand EPA and Department of Transportation regulations.
4. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
5. High degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
6. Must be willing to travel, possibly overnight.
7. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
8. Excellent computer skills: Windows, Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
