Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled 2nd Warehouse Operator to join our dynamic logistics team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in warehouse distribution, materials handling, and heavy equipment operation. This role involves supporting warehouse management in daily operations, ensuring efficient order fulfillment, inventory accuracy, and adherence to safety protocols. The 2nd Warehouse Operator will play a vital role in maintaining smooth warehouse functions and contributing to overall operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the operation of warehouse equipment such as reach trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and cranes to load, unload, and move materials safely and efficiently.
- Support inventory control activities by conducting stock checks, updating inventory management software, and ensuring accurate stock levels.
- Participate in order picking and packing processes, including using order picker machines and manual handling techniques to prepare shipments accurately.
- Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to coordinate shipping and receiving tasks, ensuring timely dispatch and receipt of goods.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace by adhering to safety regulations and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Operate material handling equipment with mechanical knowledge while following OSHA safety standards for heavy lifting and equipment use.
- Assist with warehouse management system (WMS) updates, stock stocking, and inventory management tasks to optimize warehouse operations.
Skills
- Proficiency in operating reach trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, cranes, and other heavy equipment used in warehouse environments.
- Strong understanding of warehouse distribution processes including shipping & receiving, order fulfillment, and inventory management software.
- Knowledge of safety regulations such as OSHA guidelines and proper PPE use to ensure a safe working environment.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) for tracking inventory levels and managing stock movements.
- Mechanical aptitude combined with basic math skills for accurate measurements, calculations, and troubleshooting equipment issues.
- Ability to perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting while maintaining safety standards.
- Previous experience as a warehouse supervisor or in a similar role is advantageous for leadership responsibilities within the team.
