Podiatrist (DPM) – Senior Care / Long-Term Care

Territory: Lakeland, Lake Wales, Winter Haven, Kissimmee, Avon Park, and Davenport

Schedule: Full-Time, M-F, 5 days/wk

Territory Details

• Facilities: (22) Long-Term Care / Nursing Facilities
• Facility Size: 80–150 beds
• Daily Visits: Typically 2-3 facilities per day
• Patient Volume: 40-45 patients per day
• Territory: Lakeland and Lake Wales, FL
• Care Model: Mobile / Hybrid

Qualifications

• Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from an accredited medical school
• Completion of an accredited Podiatric Residency program
• Board Certified or Board Qualified DPM
• Active Florida DPM license
• DPM in LTC setting experience preferred
• Active Medicare number
• Strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently in a mobile care environment

Work Environment

The Mobile Podiatrist provides on-site care to residents of long-term care, skilled nursing, assisted living, and other assigned facilities. The position requires regular travel between facilities within the assigned territory and the ability to work in resident rooms and shared clinical spaces. Available space, lighting, and treatment surfaces will vary by location.

The provider must transport and set up necessary supplies and equipment; follow facility infection control and safety procedures; communicate with residents, facility staff, and the corporate team; and complete required clinical documentation within established timeframes. (within 48 hours). The schedule may involve multiple facilities and resident appointments in a day.

Physical Requirements

To perform the essential functions of this position, the provider must be able to:

• Travel to assigned facilities and move throughout buildings, including hallways and resident rooms.
• Stand, walk, and sit intermittently throughout the workday.
• Bend, reach, and position themselves to examine and treat residents’ feet, including residents who are seated or in bed. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
• Use hands and fingers with the precision needed to handle instruments, perform podiatric procedures, and document care.
• See sufficiently to assess skin, nails, circulation, wounds, and other clinical findings, with corrective devices if needed.
• Carry and set up the supplies and portable equipment required for scheduled care, using available carts or other appropriate assistance.
• Respond appropriately to resident needs and maintain safe positioning during examinations and treatment.
• Some residents may be unable to move independently or may become confused, agitated, or physically resistant due to an illness. The provider and Medical Assistant must be able to recognize these situations, respond calmly, protect the resident, and obtain assistance when needed.
