Key Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and deployment of Azure Arc-enabled infrastructure across classified and unclassified DoD networks
- Design and implement Azure Arc hybrid solutions for Windows/Linux servers, Kubernetes clusters (AKS Arc-enabled), VMware, SCVMM, and bare-metal environments
- Extend Azure Policy, Azure Monitor, Defender for Cloud, Update Management, and Azure Backup to non-Azure environments via Arc
- Architect secure, compliant landing zones using Azure Landing Zones (ALZ) and Enterprise-Scale patterns tailored for DoD Impact Levels (IL4/IL5/IL6)
- Integrate Azure Arc with DoD-approved identity solutions (Azure AD/Entra ID, ADFS, PKI, and CAC authentication)
- Automate infrastructure-as-code deployments using Bicep, Terraform, and Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates in conjunction with Azure Arc
- Provide technical leadership for Azure Stack HCI, Azure Stack Edge, and Azure Arc for data services (Azure SQL Managed Instance & PostgreSQL Hyperscale on Arc)
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to ensure solutions meet DISA STIGs, RMF controls, and Zero Trust principles
- Mentor junior cloud engineers and serve as the primary Azure Arc subject matter expert on client engagements
- Develop architecture diagrams, runbooks, and briefing materials for senior government stakeholders
- Active DoD Secret clearance (interim Secret not sufficient)
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 8 years of experience in cloud architecture and engineering
- 4 years of hands-on experience designing and implementing Azure Arc solutions (Azure Arc-enabled servers, Kubernetes, and data services)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
- Deep expertise with Azure Arc control plane, agents, extensions, and custom locations
- Strong experience with Azure Policy, Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Defender for Cloud in hybrid scenarios
- Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code (Bicep, Terraform, PowerShell DSC, Ansible via Arc)
- Experience working in DoD or Federal environments with RMF, STIGs, and ATO processes
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to brief flag-level officers and technical teams
- Top Secret/SCI eligibility or active TS/SCI
- Azure DevOps Engineer Expert or Cybersecurity Architect Expert certification
- Experience with Azure Government (Azure Gov, MAG) and DoD IL5/IL6 environments
- Prior Joint Staff, DISA, or Combatant Command experience
- Familiarity with Azure Stack HCI, Windows Admin Center, and GitOps workflows (Flux/ArgoCD on Arc-enabled Kubernetes)
- Published whitepapers, blogs, or conference talks on Azure Arc or hybrid cloud
