Equipment Mechanic

The Equipment Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance and repair of Company equipment including but not limited to: semi-trailers, heavy machinery, mobile equipment and small engines.  The successful candidate will also be responsible for to maintain tools, parts and equipment inventory records as well as the fabrication and assembly of equipment including tanks, valves, sprayers and small pumps.  Additionally, this position includes visits to customers for maintenance. The company operates a major terminal along the Hudson near Albany, NY with a liquid storage capacity of 40 million gallons and a warehouse for dry storage.   The property boasts a deep water dock capable of handling ocean vessels and has a rail siding. Reports To: Logistics Manager Responsibilities: * Perform regular service, preventative maintenance and repairs to Company semi-trailer fleet on air brakes, suspension, tire changes etc. * Comply with safety regulations, Company policies and procedures as well as maintain a clean and organized work area that meets Innovative Surface Solutions housekeeping standard * Carry out minor repairs and service to other Company mobile equipment including skid steer, lift truck, genie boom and plow truck. * Small gas engine maintenance, repair and service for spray units, portable pumps, generators, lawn mower and snow-blowers. * Fabricate and assemble mobile tank-spray units for customers.  Includes pumps/pump boxes, steel cutting, welding, basic piping and electrical work. * Equipment parts management to ensure correct and accurate inventories levels for the shop and spray unit fabrication * .Record keeping of work orders, tasks and planning details * Operate truck trailer or flatbed to customer locations on a substitute driver fill-in basis- CDL License preferred but not required  * Some overtime and travel may be required to perform service or repairs at client’s site or satellite tanks. * Other duties as required  Qualifications & Experience:. * Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with heavy equipment, including knowledge and experience in welding steel, semi-trailer air brakes, suspensions and small gas engines. * General equipment maintenance, experience with power tools, troubleshooting breakdowns etc. * Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.  * Must be able to pass drug screening test.  * Must be eligible to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) * Good communication skills - .including ability to keep clear and detailed records. * Able to lift up to 50 lbs * Compensation: * Competitive base salary based on experience * Discretionary annual bonus based on Company and Individual performance (3-10% based on company performance) * Company paid medical plan premiums and HSA ( Health Savings Account) * Company matched 401K plan  We value diversity and inclusion and encourage all qualified people to apply.
