What You'll Do:
Conduct the safe movement of railcars within the rail yard or designated area, using hand signals, radio communication, or other appropriate means.
- Coordinate with the yardmaster, conductors, and other personnel to ensure the timely and accurate placement of railcars according to the established schedule.
- Perform routine inspections of railcars, checking for any signs of damage, defects, or irregularities that might affect their movement or safety.
- Operate track switches and derails to guide the movement of railcars along the designated tracks.
- Communicate effectively with the locomotive engineer and other team members to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the rail yard.
- Maintain accurate records of all switched railcars, including their locations, destinations, and any necessary maintenance or repair needs.
- Follow all safety regulations and procedures to prevent accidents, injuries, and damage to equipment or property.
- Assist in the coupling and uncoupling of railcars as necessary, ensuring proper alignment and secure connections.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on track switches, derails, and other related equipment to ensure their proper functioning.
- Participate in training programs and workshops to enhance knowledge of safety practices, equipment operation, and industry regulations.
- Other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For:
Experience in a fast-paced customer service environment.
Exposure to high volume orders.
Exposure to an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Working knowledge of all Microsoft programs and data entry
