What are the responsibilities and job description for the Drafter position at Innovative Professional Solutions, Inc?
Position Summary, Drafter (Full-Time / Part-Time)
Innovative Professional Solutions, Inc. (IPS)—a successful defense contractor located in Panama City Beach, Florida—has provided exceptional support to our Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division (NSWC PCD) customers for 25 years. Our benefits include health, dental, vision, life insurance, as well as a 401(k) plan and paid time off.
We are seeking experienced Drafters to work closely with a team of Drafters and Engineers to recreate government-provided 3D models in SolidWorks. The Drafters will review the models to ensure the correct mates and features are present, prior to importing the model views into the government-provided template. Each part will be reviewed to determine the correct part number so that part properties can be assigned to the model. This process will support the auto-population of the Bill of Materials (BOM). Additionally, bubble callouts and dimensions will be added. A strong proficiency in SolidWorks as well as drafting skills using SolidWorks are paramount to the success of the Drafters. The ideal candidates will enjoy the challenge associated with working with files created by others, conducting analysis of the part numbers, and ensuring compliance with government-furnished standards and templates. Although the Drafters will work with existing files rather than creating technical drawings from the ground up, this support is significant to our Department of Navy customers. This position requires a Department of Defense/Department of War (DoD/DoW) Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
