In addition, the Security Officer will deter unwanted criminal activity, protect property and enforce rules on a property.
Essential Job Functions
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment and access points; permitting entry
- Obtains help by sounding alarms or initiating police
- Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing violators of policy and procedures; restraining trespassers
- Completes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures
- Provide protection for equipment and workers along with checking credentials of vehicles and individuals entering and exiting the premises.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, in-services, projects, and committees as assigned.
- Adhere to and support the center’s practices, procedures, and policies including assigned break times and attendance.
- Accept assigned duties in a cooperative manner; and perform all other related duties as assigned.
- Be flexible in schedule of hours worked.

- Ability to access all premises multiple times per shift/day.
- Ability to lift up to 35 pounds occasionally, 15 pounds frequently, and 7 pounds constantly; required to obtain assistance of another qualified employee when attempting to lift or transfer objects over 25 pounds.
- Requires constant hand grasp and finger dexterity; frequent sitting, standing, walking and repetitive leg and arm movements, occasional bending, reaching forward and overhead; squatting and kneeling.
- Work is generally performed in an outdoor environment with minimal supervision.
- Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated successful experience as a security officer or relevant position required
- Ability to operate detecting systems and emergency equipment
- Excellent knowledge of public safety and security procedures/protocols
- Surveillance skills and detail orientation
- Integrity and professionalism
- Minimum of one (1) year of documented experience working with a frail or elderly population
- High School Diploma or GED Certification required
- Current Guard Card
- Is medically cleared for communicable diseases and has all immunizations up-to-date before engaging in direct participant contact.
