Superintendent (Environmental) – Concord, CA
Innovative Construction Solutions (ICS) is an environmental remediation contractor with Hazardous Waste and Demolition certifications, licensed in the State of California. We service the entire state of California out of offices in Costa Mesa and Dublin. ICS owns and operates a large fleet of specialty and heavy equipment. ICS provides soil and groundwater remediation, geotechnical and specialty civil construction, facility closures and demolition services throughout California.
ICS is seeking qualified Superintendents to direct and drive projects to completion and administer the efforts of required subcontractors. The Superintendent communicates on a regular basis with ICS Project Manager, ICS Clients, Agency Reps and subcontractors regarding the project, project timeline, and project startup and staffing requirements.
This position is based in the Concord, CA office.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
· Hold daily tailgate meetings. All crew will attend and participate in the tailgate, as well as be ready for work in the proper PPE. At the tailgate, site hazards and key Safe Behaviors will be discussed, and a visual PPE inspection will be conducted
· Daily Permit to Work/AHA: Discuss with the entire crew the day’s activities and hazards associated with each task
· Review Individual assignments
· Ensure equipment and tool inspections are conducted daily, to ensure equipment and tools are in good working order, at all times
· Maintain accurate daily notes and field logs
· Responsible for coordinating and scheduling required subcontractors for each project
· Responsible for determining materials needed and timing of delivery to perform work
· Perform daily reporting of labor, equipment, and material utilization, along with daily production (essential for tracking daily job costs)
· Review the approved budget against actual job costs and production factors with the Project Manager
· Responsible for knowing the scope of work and identifying change order conditions
· Perform H&S-related activities
· All other duties as assigned by Management
Qualifications
Ideal:

· Ability to read and understand Plans, Specifications, schematics, and other construction documents
· Ability to check grade and verify elevations using a laser
· Understanding of proper safety procedures and recognition of hazards
· Strong persuasive and interpersonal skills
· Ability to identify and meet our customer’s needs, expectations and requirements
· Must be a team player and create a positive environment
· Must be a self-starter and problem solver
· Must be capable of managing multiple tasks under time constraints
· Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations
· Must have the ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients and others
· Must be flexible and willing to work overtime as needed, including weekends
· General MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) assessment knowledge
· General knowledge and experience with operating and troubleshooting heavy equipment
Preferred:
· High School Diploma or bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or related field desirable
· Minimum 7 years of direct work experience in construction with emphasis on excavation and grading
· 40-hr HAZWOPER or 8-Hr HAZWOPER Refresher is desirable

Compensation
· Up to $60.00/hour
