We are seeking a self-sufficient, highly motivated Mid-Level Project Manager with 5–10 years of experience to lead and manage gas and electric utility infrastructure projects within our growing Services group. The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, execution, and successful delivery of gas and electric utility projects from initiation through construction closeout. This role requires strong coordination skills, financial oversight, risk management, and direct client interaction.
Responsibilities
· Lead and manage gas and electric utility infrastructure projects from planning and design through construction and closeout
· Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and third-party consultants
· Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans to ensure successful delivery
· Monitor project performance, including cost control, forecasting, schedule adherence, risk mitigation, and quality assurance
· Coordinate cross-functional teams including PMO support staff, engineering, design, construction management, procurement, and field staff
· Oversee preparation and review of technical deliverables, plans, specifications, and construction documents
· Manage change orders, contract modifications, and project risks while maintaining alignment with client requirements
· Prepare and present project status reports, cost updates, and executive-level summaries to clients and internal leadership
· Support procurement activities including vendor coordination, material tracking, and subcontractor management
· Ensure compliance with utility standards, regulatory requirements, and safety practices
· Provide leadership and mentorship to Project Engineers and junior staff
· Support business development efforts including proposal support, scope development, budgeting, and client relationship growth
· Identify opportunities for process improvement, innovation, and operational efficiency
Qualifications
· Valid California driver’s license
· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), Construction Management, or a related technical field
· 5–10 years of experience in utility infrastructure engineering, construction, or project management
· Experience managing gas and/or electric utility projects, including distribution, transmission, pipeline, underground utilities, relocation, replacement, or new installation projects
· Professional certifications preferred: Engineer-in-Training (EIT), Professional Engineer (PE), and/or Project Management Professional (PMP)
· Demonstrated experience managing project scope, schedule, and budget
· Strong understanding of engineering principles, construction workflows, and utility standards
· Experience with project scheduling and controls tools (Primavera P6 or equivalent) preferred
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with cost tracking and reporting tools
· Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
