Human Resources Generalist

A growing Southern California-based facility management company that provides maintenance, janitorial, and facility support services to commercial properties and educational institutions is seeking an experienced Part-Time Human Resources Generalist to join its team.

This position is ideal for an HR professional who enjoys working in a hands-on environment and is passionate about supporting employees while ensuring compliance with California employment laws and HR best practices.

Responsibilities

The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for, but not limited to:

• Verifying and submitting payroll for processing using QuickBooks.
• Identifying opportunities to improve HR and administrative workflows and recommend process improvements.
• Partnering with insurance brokers and carriers to maintain General Liability and Workers' Compensation insurance, including proper Workers' Compensation classifications.
• Maintaining employee personnel files and records in compliance with all federal and California employment regulations.
• Reviewing, updating, and developing HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Assisting with onboarding new employees, including new hire documentation and orientation.
• Serving as a resource for employee questions regarding HR policies, benefits, and workplace matters.
• Supporting employee relations by addressing concerns and assisting with workplace investigations as needed.
• Ensuring compliance with California employment laws, including the Fair Chance Act and other applicable hiring regulations.
• Coordinating employee benefits enrollment and administration.
• Maintaining compliance with California Labor Code requirements, FEHA, wage and hour laws, meal and rest break regulations, OSHA/Cal-OSHA standards, required workplace postings, and employee handbook updates.
• Assisting leadership with additional HR initiatives and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum of 3–5 years of Human Resources Generalist experience.
• Strong working knowledge of California employment laws and HR compliance.
• Experience with payroll processing and employee benefits administration.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining confidentiality.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.
• PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or other HR certifications are preferred, but not required.
