What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Business Development position at Innovative Career Resources & Staffing?
A contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that specializes in pharmaceutical and biotechnology services is looking to identify and hire a Director of Business Development on a full time, direct hire basis. The Director of Business development will be responsible for promoting and selling the Company's services within a specified WEST COAST geographic territory, and expanding current and potential client base, while fostering strong and sustainable client relationships. The scope of this job includes the areas of pharmaceutical, biotech, and medical device companies as well as new markets where appropriate.
The Director of Business Development will:
- Effectively qualify leads to ensure the Company's Business Development and technical resources are being applied to opportunities that will offer the greatest returns.
- Achieve sales performance objectives within stated budgetary guidelines.
- Attend industry conferences, host client visits and/or visit clients in an attempt to gain new business opportunities and/or expand on existing business relationships. Give sales presentations and distribute marketing literature.
- Manage sales cycle for Requests for Proposals (RFPs): coordinate communications between internal team and external stakeholders in order to develop a project proposal, present and follow up on submitted proposals, and participate in client meetings in order to secure contract approval.
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of all proposal documentation.
- Utilize the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database for assigned territory / market segment recording relevant data and opportunities in an effort to increase effectiveness in sales.
- Collect data and prepare routine reports to support business forecast, KPIs, metrics and other management review reporting relevant to the Business Development unit.
- Create and present professional presentations up to an executive level audience either by phone or face-to- face, when required.
- Oversee workplace cleanliness by implementing, managing and monitoring the 5S method of organization.
- Abide by safe work practices and adhere to general safety rules, performing all duties in a safe manner and never placing yourself or those around you in an unsafe condition. Report all unsafe conditions to your supervisor.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in life sciences or business discipline required.
- A minimum of 6 years, 8 years preferred, outside sales industry related work experience required.
- Understands the process of sales, from plan to close, required in order to achieve or exceed sales goals.
- Has a strong foundation of scientific principles and concepts.
- Must be able to exemplify job related techniques and principles with an ability to work on routine assignments, requiring instructions and limited supervision on new assignments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
- Proficient in CRM tools, specifically Salesforce.
- Strong interpersonal skills. Must be able to express oral and written communication in a clear and concise manner and effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and employees.
- Effective organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments as needed.
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to take programs from concept to execution and manage all stages.
- Ability to meet or exceed sales goals and drive the sales process from plan to close.
- Strong ability to communicate, present and influence through a high degree of business acumen. Ability to articulate the distinct aspects of the Company's service offerings and successfully position services against competitors.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to travel domestically and stay overnight as necessary.
- Would prefer the candidate to be located in California, however open to the West Coast region.

Salary : $140,000 - $175,000
