Water Technician - Industrial/Commercial and Agricultural (Sales and Service)

Innovational Water Solutions (IWS) is a regional provider of water management solutions for mechanical HVAC, potable, and livestock water systems. We help facility managers improve the energy efficiency of their HVAC systems, protect expensive mechanical equipment from water quality related damage, mitigate risks caused by water-borne pathogens, and improve livestock health in agricultural applications.

On a daily basis our skilled field technicians are on site at customer facilities, collecting and analyzing water samples, installing and adjusting automatic water treatment dosing systems, modifying water chemistries, and providing feedback to facility managers on the quality of the water flowing through their potable feed water and HVAC systems.

IWS serves the needs of a diverse clientele across agricultural, commercial, industrial, educational, healthcare, and government sectors across the Midwest.

Position Overview:

IWS is seeking a Water Technician to provide water management services to our Iowa client base as well as drive our growth and expand presence in that market. This is a dual-scope role covering both sides of our business: industrial and commercial water treatment for HVAC, boiler, and potable systems, and agricultural water treatment for livestock production facilities. The role is ideal for a motivated individual with a background in agriculture, plumbing, mechanical services, or water treatment chemical sales and service. The ideal candidate will enjoy a field-based work life, visiting multiple customer facilities on a daily basis as well as having an interest in being an expert in water chemistry and water systems that are critical to health, safety, and operations. The Water Technician will become the foothold of our Iowa operations, so the ideal candidate must be self-motivated and demonstrate substantial initiative.

Key Responsibilities:

Industrial and Commercial Water Treatment

• Water chemistry testing and analysis.
• Water quality report writing, delivery, and review with customers.
• Provide recommendations on how to improve and maintain water quality within steam boiler, cooling tower, hydronic heat and chilled, and potable water systems.
• Install, maintain, and troubleshoot water treatment equipment, including automatic chemical dosing and control systems.
• Conduct daily water management service route to customer facilities.
• Regularly interact with customer facility management personnel, keeping them informed about the health of the water in their mechanical and plumbing systems, and advising them on how they can improve system performance through optimal water quality.

Agricultural Water Treatment

• Agricultural facility and barn water disinfection system installation and maintenance.
• Test, treat, and monitor livestock drinking water systems, and advise producers on water quality issues affecting animal health and performance.
• Work with producers, barn managers, and site personnel to schedule service around production cycles and to follow site biosecurity requirements.

Business Development and Growth

• Network with customers and prospective customers to discover new opportunities to provide further services, equipment, and advice to facilities.
• Conduct building and facility surveys and collect samples for lab analysis in order to understand prospective customer water systems and how IWS can help them protect their equipment, improve energy-transfer efficiency, and improve livestock health.
• Conduct targeted introductions of IWS to prospective customer facility management and ownership leadership to explore whether there is a fit between IWS and their water management needs.
• Participate in industry events and trade shows, as required.
• Conduct ongoing training with IWS leadership.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Associate's Degrees or Trade School in mechanical engineering or chemistry related field preferred but not required. Licenses or certifications in mechanical systems related fields are also an advantage.
• Strong understanding of or interest and capacity to quickly learn about water systems, including steam boilers, cooling towers, hydronic, and potable systems, and the specific needs of industries we serve.
• Ability to build and maintain relationships with key facility personnel across multiple industries.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to compose professional written correspondence and written proposals.
• Willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients and attend industry events. Most travel will be same-day road trips requiring multi-hour car rides, with occasional overnight stays.
• Comfort working in agricultural production environments, including livestock barns, and willingness to follow customer biosecurity protocols.
