Position: Lunch Aide/After School Enrichment Leader
Reports To: Nutrition & BASE Program Coordinator
Position Type: Contract, Non-exempt
Work Schedule: 10-Month Position, Monday – Friday
Hours: Full Time & Part-Time Positions Available
Job Purpose:
Under the supervision of the Nutrition & BASE Program Coordinator, individuals will assist in our Lunch Program (NSLP) and lead our Before and After School Enrichment (BASE) program for PreK–6th graders in a safe, nurturing environment. You will design, implement, and supervise enrichment activities that promote social skills, fine motor development, teamwork, and experiential learning. Team members are responsible for maintaining a safe and nurturing environment where children can play and learn through experiential learning activities.
Job Requirements:
· High school diploma or GED required.
· Some college or DCF training preferred.
· Previous experience as daycare assistant or summer camp counselor, preferred.
· Food Safety Training required.
· Money management skills preferred.
· Ability to multitask and provide quality customer service.
· Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lunch Aide (NSLP) – Hours: 10AM – 1PM
· Assist the Program Coordinator during the school lunch program (NSLP): help with meal service, supervision, and daily lunch duties.
· Ensure meals are served safely and in accordance with program guidelines; help with counting and basic math as needed.
· Maintain a clean, orderly dining area; assist with routine clean-up and storage.
· Support students with positive behavior and proper dining etiquette; monitor for safety and inclusivity.
· Reflect a professional manner and provide excellent customer service.
After School Enrichment Leader (BASE) – Hours: 2PM – 6PM
· Design, implement, and supervise enrichment activities for PreK–6th graders (crafts, sports, team games, and activities that build social and motor skills).
· Create a safe, nurturing environment where children can learn through experiential activities.
· Manage group dynamics, support social-emotional skill-building, and promote teamwork and collaboration.
· Adapt activities to meet diverse needs and maintain high levels of student engagement.
· Candidates must be able to resolve conflicts, be courteous, and professional when dealing with parents, children, and other co-workers.
· Show appreciation for and willingness to learn and practice the fundamentals of our Montessori culture.
· Follow organization policies, and federal and state laws to remain in compliance.
· Responsible for immediately reporting and documenting all injuries or incidents.
· Perform other related duties as required.
Physical Requirements/Activity:
· Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
· The position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, lift (up to 20 pounds), finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing acuity, and visual acuity.
· Indoor and Outdoor: BASE Team Members are subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation.
