Innophos is seeking a dynamic Senior Director of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) to lead and elevate our company-wide EHS strategy. In this highly visible role, you will shape the standards, culture, and systems that protect our people, our communities, and our business—driving excellence in environmental stewardship, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety.

As the senior EHS leader, you will validate compliance across all sites, champion execution of key initiatives, and chair the Corporate Health & Safety Steering Team, sponsored by the SVP of Operations. Operating in a matrixed environment, you will guide the corporate EHS program and provide leadership to site EHS managers through a dotted-line structure.

You will partner closely with Manufacturing, Regulatory, Legal, HR, R&D, Commercial, and other cross-functional teams to tackle complex challenges, create value, and drive continuous improvement across the organization.

This role may be based at our Cranbury, NJ headquarters or at one of our production facilities in Chicago Heights, IL; Nashville, TN; or Geismar, LA. We offer a flexible hybrid schedule of 3 days on-site and 2 days remote per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead multi-year EHS strategy development, annual planning, budgeting, and performance tracking
  • Provide technical guidance and define, track, and analyze key EHS metrics to achieve company EHS goals and commitments. Develop, maintain, and communicate company EHS policies
  • Evolve, launch, and maintain critical EHS training programs
  • Coordinate major EHS events and ensure effective stakeholder communication
  • Develop and secure approval for cost-effective global EHS project strategies in partnership with procurement, legal, and other functions
  • Align functional groups on timing and resources for EHS project execution
  • Drive proactive EHS systems and prevention-focused practices
  • Drive active injury management through the effective use of a third-party medical services provider (WorkCare) and Worker’s Compensation Insurance providers
  • Ensure thorough root cause analysis for relevant EHS incidents, share learnings and lead reviews of recordable injuries. Escalate significant EHS issues to leadership as needed
  • Standardize EHS processes and ensure key personnel are properly trained
  • Advise sites on EHS considerations for small project design and execution
  • Support site compliance with all applicable EHS laws and regulations
  • Direct Corporate Hazard Communication programs including SDS development and maintenance
  • Maintain open communication with sites to address concerns and clarify decisions
  • Manage relationships with external EHS service providers
  • Conduct periodic internal EHS surveys and coordinate follow-up actions
  • Perform audits and assessments to ensure EHS integrity and compliance



Required Education And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, occupational health, safety engineering, or related discipline
  • Minimum of 10 years of work experience in chemical, food or pharma manufacturing. Regional or multi-facility, and corporate experience is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of management experience leading people



Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Professional training and/or certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), 40 Hour HAZWOPER, etc
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT and state/local environmental regulations
  • Build strong relationships with senior leaders, business units, and functional teams
  • Champion EHS priorities, standards, and a zero-injury, compliant culture
  • Demonstrated strong business judgment, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels
  • Operate as a hands-on, adaptable team player with strong problem-solving and influencing skills
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment while delivering high-quality results
  • Balance strategic thinking with tactical execution; proactively take initiative and work independently
  • Uphold the highest levels of ethics, integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
  • Act as a change agent who drives performance, positive culture, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to travel internationally and domestically as needed, approximately 50% of the time

The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to education, specific skills, licenses and certifications, experience, and training.

Salary : $185,000 - $285,000
