What are the responsibilities and job description for the EHS Manager position at Innophos?
Provide Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) technical support, training, guidance, and leadership in order to build the culture and drive continuous improvement in EHS performance. The site EHS manager oversees all aspects of the site s EHS compliance programs, procedures, and policies and acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies when necessary. There are two EHS staff that report directly into this position. This position is for the Innophos manufacturing site at North Salt Lake, Utah.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversees the health and safety programs, including developing, writing, implementing, auditing, and maintaining H&S policies and procedures in compliance with company, local, state, and federal rules and regulations
- Facilitates environmental programs with the assistance of the Corporate Environmental Department
- Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in proactive work site safety practices, fire prevention, environmental procedures, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials
- Provides other EHS training, communications, and program management as needed
- Ensures that sites remain up-to-date and in compliance with OSHA regulations including Recordkeeping
- Inspects facilities for potential EHS risks, determines corrective or preventive measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
- Proactively attempts to prevent all incidents and eliminate all unsafe conditions
- Leads the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigation of incidents, injuries, and near misses and drives action items to closure
- Supports and leads the use of PSM Practices such as Employee Participation, Mechanical Integrity, Management of Change, and Pre-Startup Safety Review
- Performs routine job skills analysis and task assessments
- Manages the preparation of Safety Data Sheets for the products we sell
- Demonstrates management's commitment to safety
- Provides support for all safety and environmental initiatives
- Follows all environmental, health and safety protocols
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor s degree in Environmental, Health, Safety, Public Health, Engineering, or other technical discipline
- 5 or more years' experience in an EHS role at a manufacturing location, preferably in the chemical or food industry
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills, including the ability to train
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulatory matters and industrial chemical process operations
