Position Overview
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and experienced Assistant Director to help lead a temporary Print Project Management team based in Fairfield, Ohio. This role is critical in overseeing the end-to-end execution of a high-volume, time-sensitive print production initiative.
The Assistant Director will partner with the Director of Client Services to manage daily operations, cross-functional workflows, and a team of temporary project managers. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of commercial print processes, excellent client-facing communication skills, and a proven track record of keeping complex creative projects on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Team Leadership & Operational Oversight
- Supervise Workflows: Oversee the daily assignments and productivity of the temporary project management team, ensuring equitable workload distribution.
- Process Optimization: Implement and enforce standardized project management methodologies to streamline asset collection, proofing, and final delivery.
- Problem Solving: Act as the first point of escalation for project bottlenecks, scheduling conflicts, or production errors, resolving issues swiftly to minimize delays.
2. Project & Print Production Management
- Timeline Accountability: Monitor master project schedules, milestones, and critical paths to ensure all print collateral meets strict deadlines.
- Vendor Relations: Coordinate with local and national print vendors on job specifications, pricing, proof approvals, and press checks.
- Quality Control: Maintain rigorous standards for color accuracy, paper stock specifications, and finishing details across all printed materials.
3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Reporting
- Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as a key bridge between the project management team, creative designers, copywriters, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
- Print Industry Expertise: Strong knowledge of prepress, offset printing, digital printing, large format, and fulfillment processes.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in project management, print production, or agency operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to manage diverse stakeholder expectations.
- Adaptability: Thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and can effortlessly pivot priorities as project needs evolve.
- Local Availability: Must be able to commute to or work out of the Fairfield, Ohio location.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Management experience with teams of 10-20 employees.
