Overview
We're looking for a Portfolio Analyst to help support the planning, tracking, and governance of projects and programs across the organization. In this role, you'll work closely with project teams to ensure initiatives move smoothly through each stage of the project lifecycle while aligning with business goals, budgets, and strategic priorities. You'll also help improve reporting, governance processes, and portfolio visibility for leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Support projects and programs from initiation through closeout, helping ensure they stay aligned with business objectives, budgets, and expected benefits.
- Partner with project and program teams to develop and refine business cases.
- Help ensure projects follow established portfolio governance processes, standards, and best practices.
- Guide teams through governance requirements and promote consistent project management methodologies.
- Prepare portfolio-level reports and analysis covering financial performance, resource utilization, risks, change management, benefits realization, and other key metrics.
- Compare planned vs. actual performance and identify trends, risks, and impacts across the portfolio.
- Review projects that are off track or no longer aligned with strategic goals, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
- Create monthly and ad hoc reports, dashboards, and presentations highlighting project health, cost and schedule performance, milestone changes, and key risks.
- Identify opportunities to improve portfolio management processes, reporting, and overall project controls.
Qualifications
- Customer-focused with a proactive and responsive approach.
- Strong knowledge of project, program, and portfolio management principles.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Power BI.
- Experience with SharePoint is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working with technical teams and translating complex information for a variety of stakeholders.
- Adaptable, self-motivated, and able to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Experience with change management and performance reporting is preferred.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field required.
- Master's degree is a plus.
