Position Summary
The HR Generalist is a hands-on HR professional responsible for supporting daily human resources operations across a 220-employee manufacturing site. This role serves as a key partner to employees and supervisors by providing support in employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, HR administration, compliance, and workforce support. This position requires attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment effectively. The HR Generalist plays an important role in supporting a positive workplace culture, ensuring consistent HR practices, and helping drive operational success through strong employee support and engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Workforce Support
- Serve as a primary HR contact for employees and supervisors regarding HR-related questions and workplace concerns
- Support employee relations matters by gathering information, documenting concerns, and assisting with issue resolution
- Promote consistent application of company policies, procedures, and workplace expectations
- Assist in fostering a positive, respectful, and accountable work environment
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive employee matters
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Support recruiting efforts, including job postings, interview scheduling, candidate communication, and onboarding coordination
- Assist with new hire orientation and onboarding activities to ensure a smooth employee experience
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug screens, and onboarding documentation
- Partner with hiring managers to support staffing needs and workforce planning efforts
- Help maintain recruiting and onboarding records and systems
HR Operations & Administration
- Support day-to-day HR operations and employee lifecycle processes, including hires, transfers, promotions, and separations
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR documentation in compliance with company policies and legal requirements
- Assist employees with benefits, payroll, attendance, and HR system inquiries
- Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
- Help prepare HR reports, track metrics, and maintain organized HR files and documentation
Floor Engagement & Operational Support
- Maintain a visible and approachable presence on the production floor
- Build strong working relationships with employees, supervisors, and operations leadership
- Participate in shift meetings, floor walks, and operational discussions as needed
- Assist with communication and follow-up related to workforce concerns and operational priorities
- Support workforce engagement and employee communication initiatives
Safety & Compliance Support
- Reinforce company safety policies and support a culture of workplace safety
- Assist with incident documentation, investigations, and corrective action follow-up as needed
- Partner with operations leadership to support compliance and workplace standards
- Help ensure required employee training and documentation are completed and maintained
Qualifications
- 2–5 years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or operational environment
- Working knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and employee relations processes
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems
- Ability to build relationships and work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
- Bilingual – Spanish required
