POSITION SUMMARY
We are looking for a hands-on Fusion Splicer Service Technician to join our growing team at our upcoming New Jersey service center. This role is primarily responsible for the repair, calibration, maintenance, and technical support of INNO Instrument fusion splicers, with additional involvement in OTDRs and related fiber optic test equipment as needed. The ideal candidate has a strong background in electronics or electro-mechanical repair, attention to detail, and a passion for precision instrumentation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Diagnose, repair, and service fusion splicers as the primary focus, along with OTDRs and related fiber optic test equipment returned by customers and distributors
· Conduct calibration and optical alignment procedures following factory specifications and technical documentation
· Process RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) units — inspect, log, repair, test, and return to customers within committed turnaround times
· Maintain accurate service records and repair logs using internal ERP/ticketing systems
· Communicate repair status, findings, and technical recommendations to customers and internal teams professionally
· Assist in managing service parts inventory and ensuring adequate stock levels
· Support quality control inspections on refurbished or outgoing units
· Occasionally provide on-site or remote technical support to customers and distributors as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
· Hands-on experience repairing or servicing fusion splicers; experience with OTDRs and related fiber optic test equipment is a plus
· Familiarity with optical fiber theory, fiber splicing, or fiber network infrastructure
· Experience and proficiency with cabling and use of hand tools
· Good understanding of electricity and related technologies
· Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to provide customer technical support
· Customer service orientation — experience communicating repair updates directly to end users or distributors
· Basic computer proficiency; familiarity with ERP or ticketing systems is a plus
· Associate's degree or higher in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field — OR equivalent hands-on work experience; technical certifications in telecommunications or related fields are an advantage
