Position Overview:

INNIO is seeking an Apprenticeship & Workforce Training Lead to help build the skilled workforce supporting the growth of Jenbacher manufacturing in Waukesha, WI. Initially, the Training Lead will support the training and development of hourly employees across Manufacturing and Operations as Waukesha ramps up production. Simultaneously, this individual will build and lead our apprenticeship program. As the Waukesha operation matures, production training coordination will transition to the operating teams and this role will become primarily focused on apprenticeship development and INNIO's skilled-trades talent pipeline.

What You’ll Do:

  • Coordinate training and development of employees across manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate knowledge transfer and training between Waukesha site and Jenbacher subject-matter experts in Jenbach, Austria.
  • Establish skills qualification processes, hands-on training, and train-the-trainer capability.
  • Build and lead the Waukesha apprenticeship program, including recruiting, training, mentoring, and apprentice development.
  • Execute the established apprenticeship curriculum in partnership with ICATT, WCTC, and INNIO technical experts.
  • Develop hands-on learning, work rotations, practical exercises, and mentoring aligned with ICATT requirements.
  • Partner with Jenbacher’s apprenticeship training organization in Austria to leverage proven training methods, technical expertise, and best practices.
  • Lead the design, build-out, and operation of the Waukesha-site Apprentice Training Center.
  • Build relationships with high schools, technical colleges, career academies, and workforce-development organizations to create a apprentice recruiting pipeline.
  • Develop internal trainers and mentors who can sustainably support workforce and apprentice development.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Associate degree, technical diploma, apprenticeship credential, teaching credential, or equivalent technical education and experience.
  • Experience teaching, training, coaching, or mentoring individuals in manufacturing, skilled trades, vocational education, or another technical environment.
  • Strong understanding of hands-on technical learning and competency-based development.
  • Ability to teach technical concepts to employees with varying levels of experience.
  • Strong communication, organization, coaching, and program leadership skills.
  • Comfortable working directly on the manufacturing floor and in a hands-on training environment.
  • Ability to collaborate across functions, educational institutions, and international teams.
  • Willingness to periodically travel to Jenbach, Austria, for training, benchmarking, and knowledge transfer.

Preferred Experience:

  • Vocational or technical education instructor, apprenticeship trainer, industrial trainer, or apprenticeship program leader.
  • Experience with registered apprenticeship, dual-education, or ICATT-style programs.
  • Technical experience in one or more areas such as industrial maintenance, machining, automation/robotics, controls, or mechanical assembly.
  • Experience developing hands-on training, qualification processes, or technical training environments.
  • Experience recruiting and mentoring apprentices, students, or early-career technicians.

Who Will Succeed in This Role:

The ideal candidate is an educator who understands manufacturing.

You enjoy teaching technical skills, developing people, and working directly with apprentices and production employees. You are comfortable mentoring an apprentice, teaching a hands-on technical lesson, working with manufacturing leadership, collaborating with technical colleges, and building a training program from the ground up.

This is a unique opportunity to help develop Waukesha’s new manufacturing workforce today while building an apprenticeship program that will develop INNIO’s skilled technical talent for years to come.
