As the Engineering Manager, you will act as a leader and technical expert for our products making use of a proven track record in the stated technical area. You’ll lead the team successfully in a matrix organization & develop team members in line with company goals and objectives.

You’ll Lead an engineering team as functional manager and take responsibility for personnel and engine develop­ment topics focusing on product support for Jenbacher product line produced in the US covering all domains such as design, mechanical engineering, performance and controls. Give technical guidance and lead projects in the stated area of specialty, ensuring alignment with other functions globally inside and outside of engineering.

Act as a go-to function within Engineering for Production and Procurement with the ability to remove roadblocks and ensure common goals are achieved.

What You’ll Do

  • People, Planning and Resource Management
    • Set up a team to serve the needs of the business, both from the point of view of correct organi­zational set-up and the continual development of skills and experience.
    • Define work packages and tasks to create impactful products and technologies, support the plan­ning process and analyze skill gaps within the business.
    • Manage employee performance and ensure personal development of employees to build exper­tise, skills and leadership and ensure succession plans for key positions.
    • Personnel additions & reductions and ensuring the right blend of full-time staff and contractors
  • Technical Leadership, Ownership & Accountability
    • Plan and lead system & technology development projects and manage their execution to meet team’s commitments.
    • Lead, mentor and assist with analysis & resolution of technical challenges en­coun­tered by teams.
    • Incorporate ‘lessons learned’ and ‘industry best practices’ regarding engine techno­logies, appli­cable processes, tools and standards into continuous development.
    • Provide technical consultation throughout business-critical activities to all stake­holders.
    • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, prepa­ration and presen­tation of technical data to internal and external INNIO customers.
  • Collaboration
    • Promote an open & communicative environment, both inside and external to the team, to ensure ideas considered equally and with appropriate consideration of all CTQs.
    • Eliminate inefficiencies within the team by use of appropriate methods & processes, avoidance of duplication, minimization of work handovers and ownership of tasks.
    • Be supportive to the other functions internal to engineering and external.
What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor or Master of Science in Mechanical engineering or similar.
  • Strong leadership abilities to manage and support a team of engineers, with proven mentoring, coaching and motivational skills.
  • Long-term professional experience in combustion engine development with substantial experience in new product development and leading cross-functional projects.
  • Profound experience in several fields such as design, analysis, validation, project management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (German is a plus), with the ability to influence, present key information and engage in discussions with senior management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with team player mentality. Ability to interact smoothly at all levels of the orga­nization.

  • Location: Waukesha, WI
  • Travel: 10% of domestic and international travel
