What are the responsibilities and job description for the Integrated Marketing & Communications Manager position at Innersense Organic Beauty?
Integrated Marketing & Communications Manager
Who We Are
Everyone has their own journey. For Greg and Joanne Starkman, their path was illuminated by their love for family, health and beauty for people and the planet. When the seasoned beauty professionals were learning to navigate busy careers and raising a family with a special-needs daughter, the most memorable advice they received was, “trust your inner sense."
Fueled by passion, personal purpose and a call to service, the visionary couple founded Innersense Organic Beauty in 2005, bringing the highest quality organic ingredients and pure actives to professional hair care.
Innersense Organic Beauty is an award-winning global leader in hair care with a complete range of safe, sustainable, and cruelty-free products that deliver pure performance and salon-quality results. As a B-Corp certified company, Innersense is committed to a path of integrity, transparency and well-being for people and the planet.
Integrated Marketing & Communications Manager
We’re looking for an Integrated Marketing & Communications Manager who lives at the intersection of strategy and craft — someone who can shape a campaign narrative and then execute it with precision across every channel and every word. This is not a role for someone who thinks in templates. It’s for a modern marketer who reads headlines twice, understands why one word beats another, and knows how to build a story that resonates with consumers, professionals, editors, and communities alike.
Reporting to the Brand Director, you’ll lead the execution of tiered marketing campaigns across Innersense’s brand pillars — core products, new product launches, and our people and planet mission. You’ll own the brand voice across consumer-facing channels, manage the official marketing calendar, guide our PR agency with sharp editorial instincts, and flex into new areas as the business demands.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Campaign Execution
- Lead end-to-end execution of tiered marketing campaigns across brand pillars: core products, new product launches, and people and planet.
- Translate brand strategy and seasonal priorities into cohesive, channel-ready campaign plans with clear messaging hierarchies.
- Build the organization’s key campaign handoff docs: the Campaign Toolkit for Tier 1 campaigns and new product launches (insights, concept, messaging, look/tone/feel), the GTM Deck covering distribution channel promos and plans
- Partner with the Creative Director, designers, and copywriter to brief, review, and deliver assets that are on-brand and on-strategy — sweating every headline, caption, and call-to-action.
- Provide brand feedback at R1 and R2 creative reviews and give final approval before launch, keeping creative on strategy and on brand.
- Own the official marketing calendar: review cross-functional channel plans, lock the integrated calendar, and ensure on-time, on-brief delivery across all consumer touchpoints.
Brand Voice & Messaging
- Own consumer-facing messaging across the customer journey, from awareness through loyalty, ensuring consistency, clarity, and resonance at every step.
- Serve as a brand voice steward: someone who can write, edit, and evaluate copy with the confidence of a seasoned communications professional.
- Apply a deep understanding of the Innersense consumer to craft messaging that connects authentically across digital, social, email, SMS, and beyond.
PR & Media Relations
- Partner with our external PR agency to guide pitch angles, editorial strategy, and story development — bringing a marketer’s understanding of the brand, audience, and cultural moment to every conversation.
- Develop press materials, product narratives, and communication frameworks that give the agency what they need to earn meaningful coverage.
- Manage press and editor seeding programs, ensuring the right product gets to the right hands with the right story attached.
Digital & Social Channels
- Equip Digital’s channel owners with channel-ready messaging, creative direction, and campaign toolkits, ensuring campaigns come to life cohesively across platforms.
- Support brand-led paid social amplification, working with Digital to ensure storytelling continuity between organic and paid.
- Act as a thought-partner on email and SMS campaign strategy, equipping Digital to execute while maintaining brand voice and driving consumer engagement.
Collaboration & Flexibility
- Work closely with the Brand Director, NPD Director, Pro Channel Manager, and Digital team to ensure brand communications are aligned across all functions.
- Flex into event marketing, education campaigns, and other brand activation needs as the role and business evolve.
- Bring the same intentionality to internal collaboration as you do to external communications — clear, direct, and generous with your thinking.
Other Duties, as Assigned
WHAT YOU BRING
Experience
- 5-7 years of experience in brand marketing, integrated marketing, or communications — ideally at a consumer brand in beauty, wellness, lifestyle, or CPG.
- A genuine background in communications or PR: you’ve worked with agencies, written a pitch, and understand what editors are actually looking for.
- Proven campaign management experience — you’ve taken campaigns from brief to launch across multiple channels and know how to keep them on strategy under pressure.
- Experience managing creative teams or agency partners with a clear, confident point of view.
Skills & Strengths
- Exceptional writer and storyteller — your core skill is messaging, and it shows in everything you produce.
- Strategic thinker who executes with excellence: you can zoom out to see the brand narrative and zoom in to perfect a subject line.
- Digital-first marketer with hands-on experience across organic social, paid social, email, and SMS.
- Highly collaborative and culturally attuned — you build trust easily, communicate clearly, and get things done without making it complicated.
- A modern marketer who is curious, adaptable, and energized by wearing multiple hats.
- Deep affinity for clean beauty, sustainability, or purpose-driven brands — you don’t just market the mission, you believe in it.
Bonus Points
- Experience at a clean beauty or natural wellness brand.
- Familiarity with tools like Asana, Hootsuite, Klaviyo or similar platforms.
- Background managing or coordinating event marketing activations.
