TRAIL/ LIFT OPERATIONS MAINTENANCE

Position Summary

Mountain Operations Team Members support the safe, efficient, and guest‑focused operation of Ski Apache by performing both lift operations and trail maintenance duties. This dual‑role position ensures smooth lift functionality, safe and well‑maintained terrain, accurate signage, and an exceptional guest experience across the mountain. Team members work outdoors in all weather conditions, uphold resort safety standards, and contribute directly to the quality of the skiing and riding environment.

Key Responsibilities

Lift Operations

• Operate lift controls, monitor lift speed, and maintain awareness of guest flow.
• Assist guests during loading and unloading, providing clear and friendly instructions.
• Follow ANSI B77.1 standards, resort policies, and daily operational checklists.
• Shovel, rake, and maintain lift ramps and terminal areas throughout the day.
• Maintain continuous radio communication with Ski Patrol; report stoppages, hazards, and operational issues immediately.
• Assist with misloads, guest falls, and lift stoppages; complete incident documentation as required.
• Keep terminals clean, organized, and visually ready for guests.
• Work closely with operators, supervisors, Ski Patrol, and maintenance teams.
• Support Ski Patrol Risk Management personnel as needed.
• Ensure load/unload areas are prepared for opening each day and monitored continuously for safety.

Trail Maintenance

• Conduct daily trail inspections by walking or skiing/snowboarding to identify hazards.
• Remove rocks, branches, fallen trees, and other debris from trails.
• Install and maintain trail signs, bamboo, ropes, and boundary markers as needed or requested.
• Rake, shovel, and smooth terrain in high‑traffic zones and lift unload/load areas.
• Flag thin cover, ice, exposed rocks, and other hazards for guest and patrol awareness.
• Set up and maintain snow fencing to manage drifting and protect trail edges.
• Report trail conditions, closures, and hazards; support grooming plans and coordination with Ski Patrol.
• Safely operate hand tools, snowmobiles, and utility vehicles on approved routes.
• Provide friendly assistance and directional guidance to guests.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service skills and a positive, professional attitude
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift 50 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks
• Comfortable standing for long periods and navigating varied terrain
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow detailed safety procedures
• Ability to ski or snowboard on intermediate terrain (if required)
• Previous ski resort or outdoor operations experience is an asset
• Snowmobile experience is an asset; use permitted on approved routes only
• Must pass resort training and lift‑operations certification

Work Environment

Mountain Operations Team Members work outdoors in snow, wind, sun, and cold temperatures. Shifts may include weekends, holidays, storm cycles, early mornings, and peak periods. The role requires consistent movement across varied terrain, professional grooming standards, and strict adherence to all resort safety protocols.

Physical Requirements
