We are seeking a detail-oriented Lead Facilities & Grounds Specialist to oversee both the physical upkeep of our historic structures and the day-to-day care of our coastal grounds. In this role, you will play a key part in protecting the integrity of our historical landmark while ensuring guest spaces remain beautiful, functional, and safe year-round.
Maintenance & Facilities

- Perform routine, preventive, and emergency repairs across guest rooms, common areas, and exterior structures.
- Diagnose and repair minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry, drywall, and HVAC issues.
- Apply appropriate historic preservation techniques when repairing original woodwork, historic siding, windows, and period hardware.
- Manage seasonal weather preparation, including rust/corrosion mitigation, sealing exterior surfaces, and winterizing outdoor fixtures against salt air and heavy coastal rain.
- Maintain clear records of routine inspections and safety equipment compliance (fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, smoke detectors).
Coastal Landscaping & Groundskeeping
- Maintain all lawns, garden beds, coastal flora, walkways, and outdoor guest seating areas.
- Manage prune cycles for native coastal trees, shrubs, and wind-resistant flora.
- Maintain, clear, and ensure proper drainage across pathways, patios, and parking zones during high-precipitation months.
- Operate and maintain landscaping machinery (mowers, trimmers, blowers, pressure washers) safely and efficiently.
- Implement eco-friendly landscaping practices suited for sensitive coastal ecosystems.
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 3 years in general facilities maintenance and/or commercial landscaping (hospitality or historical property experience preferred).
- Technical Aptitude: Proficient in basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical repairs.
- Preservation Mindset: Respect for historical architecture and an interest in maintaining heritage materials.
- Environment Knowledge: Familiarity with Pacific Northwest coastal plant species, rain mitigation, and salt-air weathering dynamics.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work outdoors in varying weather conditions (rain, wind, sunshine), climb ladders, and bend/kneel comfortably.
- Licensing: Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
