Description

We are seeking an IT Manager to own our IT function end-to-end, providing hands-on support while building scalable systems and processes for a growing startup. You will manage identity and access, device provisioning and MDM, core SaaS tooling, security fundamentals (MFA, patching, EDR, backups), vendor relationships, and documentation for onboarding/offboarding and day-to-day operations. You will also design, set up, and maintain a small internal air-gapped network for sensitive workloads, including secure access controls, controlled data transfer procedures, monitoring, and recovery planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the full IT function end-to-end: Act as the primary IT resource, manage day-to-day support, and build an IT roadmap aligned to company growth.
  • Device Management: Manage permissions, enforce least-privilege access, and maintain asset inventory.
  • Security and Compliance: Develop baseline security controls (MFA, patching, encryption, EDR, and backups) and support audits or customer security questionnaires.
  • Cloud/SaaS Administration: Own core SaaS tooling, manage licenses, and standardize configurations.
  • Design, build, and operate an internal air-gaped network: Stand up and maintain a small, isolated server/workstation network environment for sensitive workloads. Define the network architecture, access controls, and secure data transfer procedures. Maintain backups, securely apply patches, and monitor system health.
  • Office IT: Configure and maintain office networking (Wi-Fi, printers, conference AV, etc.)
  • Documentation and Process Building: Create clear IT policies and documentation that scale as the company grows.
  • Plan for Scale: Design systems that can grow with the company while preparing for an eventual expansion of the IT team.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years of hands-on IT experience with direct ownership of day-to-day support and/or infrastructure AND including significant System Administrator responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of designing, deploying, and maintaining networks including LAN/Wi-Fi, VLANs, firewalls, etc.
  • Previous experience implementing security controls including access controls, device encryption, patch management, EDR/AV, and access reviews.
  • Good grasp of administering common SaaS tools and managing licensing.
  • Documentation mindset with the ability to write clear and concise IT policies and guides.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and planning skills to support the eventual expansion of the IT infrastructure and team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Previous experience designing and/or operating a fully isolated secure network environment including enforcing access controls and maintaining data security.
  • Familiarity with compliance questionnaires such as SOC 2.
  • Proven track record working in a small company and/or high-autonomy environment (prioritizing and executing work independently).

Benefits & Perks

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Paid holidays and vacation.
