POSITION SUMMARY:  Coordinates early childhood behavioral health services within a specified geographic region or zone of coverage. Lead role in the development and implementation of programming specific to the early childhood population.  Assists in the identification of potential referral sources and seeks to maintain positive professional relationships with both internal and external referral sources. Provides individual, group, and family therapy to identified clients between ages of 0-6 years old at clinic and off-site locations.  Off-site locations include: home, preschools/schools, daycares, pediatrician’s offices, and DCBS offices

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s Degree in clinical or counseling psychology (Certification in KY); Masters Degree in Social work (CSW or LCSW required); or Masters Degree in related area with required credentials through appropriate state board.  One-year experience in diagnosis and treatment of emotionally disturbed children preferred.  Must provide own transportation to locations of service delivery.

 

SKILL SETS:  Demonstrates superior oral and written communication skills. Possesses a basic knowledge of computers.  Demonstrates skills at problem analysis and resolution including, but not limited to, differential diagnostic skills.  Superior customer service skills and ability to communicate efficiently with co-workers, community partners, families and referral sources.

 

PHYSICAL AND ENVIORMENTAL DEMANDS:  Must have visual acuity sufficient to read a variety of written reports and documents and complete necessary job documentation needs.  Must have auditory acuity sufficient to understand spoken communication by phone and face-to-face with clients, staff, and outside resources including community partners.  Requires frequent stooping and kneeling.  Possible exposure of blood borne pathogens, bio-hazardous waste and communicable diseases during contact with clients in their homes.

 

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Coordinates early childhood behavioral health services across a variety of potential settings within a specified geographic region. Serves as primary point of contact for internal staff and community partners for early childhood services.

2.      Assumes a leadership role with regard to the development and implementation of programming specific to the early childhood population.

3.      In the absence of the Administrator - Regional Services assists with time sheets, productivity reports and other routine administrative tasks as directed by Administrator - Regional Services.

  1. Conduct individual, group, and/or family therapy and crisis intervention as clinically indicated for children 0-8 years old and their families.
  2. Perform intake assessments, perform or arrange for psychological testing when necessary, and develop treatment plans.
  3. Ensures timely and efficient completion of all required documentation for medical records and billing purposes.

7.      Assumes responsibility for quality of client care.

8.      Assists the Administrator – Regional Services and Clinic Managers in identifying and addressing the training needs of staff involved with earl childhood program, as well as other clinic based staff serving consumers with early childhood behavioral health issues/diagnoses.  

9.      Consults as needed with administrative and /or clinical supervisor regarding clinical issues, policy, and procedures.

10.  Coordinates with Clinic Managers, as well as other members of the management structure in the region, in regards to space, staff and other resources needed to provide early childhood services across multiple settings in a given region.  

11.  Provide clinical supervision in accordance with personal licensure.

12.  Participates in zone LIAC processes as Early Childhood Specialist and Council Consultant related to 0 to 6 service needs, inter and intra-agency supports, and community resources.

  1. Exercises sound clinical and ethical judgment in treatment decisions and responsibilities
  2. Assists in developing and maintaining referral network within community.
  3. Maintains positive professional relationships with both internal and external referral sources.
  4. Provides consultation and education as needed to community groups, community partners, schools, and other agencies.
  5. Manages work schedule to ensure adequate productivity.
  6. Make referrals to appropriate levels of care and additional services as needed.
  7. Consult with treatment team and referral source to coordinate and collaborate on treatment goals as needed.
  8. Maintains professional conduct in all settings required by position.
  9. Assumes position with the advanced knowledge that the role may expand to include direct supervision of professional and/or paraprofessional staff.
  10. Participate in agency CQI activities.
  11. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

2.      Attends mandatory in-services and other training/educational programs as required.
