Office Aide I / Yard Duty (Hybrid Position)Overview
Join our team in this unique hybrid position, where you will spend approximately 60% of your workday serving as a Yard Duty Supervisor and 40% of your workday assisting in the school office as an Office Aide. As a Yard Duty Supervisor, you will help create a safe, welcoming, and engaging playground environment where students can build friendships, develop problem-solving skills, practice kindness, and enjoy positive social interactions. Your presence will help foster a culture of respect, responsibility, and inclusion while ensuring student safety during recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and other outdoor activities.
As an Office Aide, you will support the daily operations of the school by assisting students, families, staff, and visitors while performing a variety of clerical and administrative duties. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, possesses excellent organizational and communication skills, and thrives in a collaborative school environment.
Yard Duty Responsibilities (Approximately 60%)
- Supervise students during recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned outdoor activities.
- Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive school environment where every child feels welcomed and valued.
- Encourage positive social interactions, good sportsmanship, kindness, and respectful communication among students.
- Assist students in developing conflict resolution, problem-solving, and playground citizenship skills.
- Build positive relationships with students while serving as a caring, trusted adult on campus.
- Reinforce school-wide expectations, behavior standards, and character development initiatives.
- Monitor playground equipment and activity areas to help ensure student safety and promptly respond to accidents or concerns.
- Communicate significant student concerns or incidents to appropriate staff members.
- Help maintain clean, organized, and safe outdoor learning and play spaces.
Office Aide Responsibilities (Approximately 40%)
- Welcome students, parents, staff, and visitors with professionalism and exceptional customer service.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls while providing accurate information and assistance.
- Assist with student attendance, filing, copying, scanning, data entry, and other clerical duties.
- Prepare correspondence, forms, reports, and other school documents.
- Maintain accurate records and organized filing systems.
- Support office staff with scheduling, mail distribution, and general administrative tasks.
- Maintain confidentiality of student, staff, and family information.
- Assist with additional projects and responsibilities that support the daily operations of the school.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience working with children in a school, childcare, recreation, or youth program is highly desirable.
- Previous office, clerical, or customer service experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.
