The Medical Assistant II - Certified is a Full Time, Regular position working Monday-Friday day shift at the Holy Family Outpatient Based Imaging Center.
Summary: Works under the direction of the OBIC RN. Assists physicians and nurses with admit and recovery of all OBIC patients. Helps facilitate efficient department flow by assisting all departments within the OBIC with patient care and unit needs. Takes patient’s history and vital signs, performs additional duties as trained and assigned. Assists in examinations and procedures when requested. Interacts with the providers, other departments within Inland Imaging, patients and family members and outside contacts with care and compassion. Participates in OBIC team meetings and learning opportunities, displays willingness to perform new tasks and responsibilities.

- Escorts patients to recovery or procedure room
- Assists patient in preparing for exam or procedure.
- Obtains and documents vital signs
- Interviews patient to obtain patient chief complaint, histories, medications, allergies and enters data into EMR or procedure note.
- Assesses and reports findings to RN vascular access and procedure sites.
- Applies and changes dressings.
- Performs Accuchecks, documents, and reports findings to RN
- Triages patient phone calls, documenting instructions provided, and/or route to provider for direction and disposition.
- Monitors infusion patients at the direction and under the supervision of RN
- Calls pharmacy with authorized prescription refills and document in EMR
- Contacts patient with provider directed instructions and document in EMR.
- Calls patient post-procedure for wellness check and post-procedure symptoms
- Reviews EMR/paper medical records prior to patient encounters to ensure chart is in order and includes all information that will be needed by the provider for the encounter.
- Obtains outside patient records, films and other reports as needed by the providers
- Performs sterilization/autoclaving of procedure instruments with training. Assists with maintenance and routine equipment checks as directed by supervisor.
- Maintains, clean and stock exam rooms and nursing unit.
- Keeps all supply/equipment, trays/kits fully stocked at all times.
- Checks inventory medical supplies and provides order requests to appropriate person
- Ensures provider has all paperwork needed for each exam, including previous reports, H&P's, lab results, and referral slips.
- Ensures that previous medical records are received and scanned into patients’ chart for scheduled appointments
- Answers and fields patient calls label and deliver lab specimens to HFH as directed by RN or MD
- Uses required computer programs proficiently.
- Other duties and tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED; graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program is required

Experience:
- One year of Medical Assistant experience is preferred
- Anatomy and medical terminology

Certifications: Applicant/Employees must have passed CMA Board Exam offered through an Academic Institution.
- Current CPR/BLS required

Computer Skills:
- Experience with computer applications and keyboarding – required
- Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired: Outlook; Microsoft Office Suite; Workday; Qgenda; Webex Stentor; Medicalis; EPIC; Internet/Intranet

Background Check:
- Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
