Overview
Inkwell Montessori is seeking a warm, experienced, and Spanish-speaking Bilingual Guide to help lead our Primary classroom for children ages 2.5–6. We are a new Montessori school in Somerville offering authentic Montessori, Spanish immersion, daily movement, and a culturally sustaining learning environment for young children.
This is a full-time, 12-month position for an educator who is fluent in Spanish and experienced in early childhood education. The Bilingual Guide will work closely with the Founder and Head of School and will lead our Spanish immersion program during the afternoon work cycle.
We are looking for someone who can create a calm, well-prepared classroom, guide children toward independence, observe their development, and build warm relationships with families.
Duties
- Help lead a mixed-age Montessori Primary classroom for children ages 2.5–6.
- Lead Montessori lessons and classroom experiences in Spanish during the afternoon work cycle.
- Support children’s independence, concentration, early literacy, mathematics, practical life skills, and social-emotional development.
- Observe children and document their progress.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain Montessori materials and classroom areas.
- Support classroom routines, transitions, lunch, rest, outdoor time, and dismissal.
- Communicate warmly and professionally with families and team members.
- Collaborate closely with the Founder and Head of School.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, classroom planning, family events, and school activities.
- During summer and other non-student periods, support classroom preparation, curriculum planning, family onboarding, admissions, and other school needs.
Qualifications
- Professional fluency in Spanish and English.
- Experience working with young children in an early childhood or Montessori classroom.
- Strong understanding of child development for children ages 2.5–6.
- Ability to guide children calmly, respectfully, and consistently.
- Strong communication, observation, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Massachusetts EEC Lead Teacher certification for Preschool is strongly preferred.
- An AMS, AMI, or other MACTE-recognized Early Childhood Montessori credential, or willingness to get training
- Ability to meet all Massachusetts EEC background check, health, safety, and professional qualification requirements.
Compensation and Schedule
- $55,000–$62,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and Montessori training.
- Full-time, 12-month position.
- Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM–6:00 PM.
- Health insurance eligibility, paid time off, paid holidays, and school closures in accordance with Inkwell Montessori’s employee policies.
