Position Overview:
We’re looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our diverse and growing Engineering team. For the right person, this role comes with a lot of impact at a key point in our technology journey. We're moving from EC2, ECS and ElasticBeanstalk to Kubernetes. We're moving from Python to TypeScript; from Puppet to Ansible; from SecretsManager to Hashicorp Vault. This is a company on the go where you will make a large difference on a small team.
This role is remote, based in the United States.
Job Responsibilities:
- Help manage a diverse system of machines and services in Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Write and maintain Bash and Python scripts
- Participate in peer code reviews in a supportive culture
- Expand Inkling's continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline with Kubernetes, Github Actions and ArgoCD
- Build out our infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible
- Perform system maintenance and participate in our on-call schedule in support of our customers
- Work to ensure we meet or exceed our uptime service level agreement (SLA) and service level objective (SLO) targets
- Continually work to improve the team and our processes
Candidate Requirements:
- Minimum two (2) years of DevOps, Infrastructure, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) or similar experience required
- AWS experience required
- Basic coding skills in Python, Javascript or similar coding language
- Experience working with Linux; we use Ubuntu and Amazon Linux
- High level of attention to detail and integrity
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve
- Experience with Infrastructure As Code; Terraform, Ansible, Puppet are all nice
- Must be a great team player, supporting colleagues and contributing to our culture, which we're very proud of

Within 1 month…
- Onboarding program designed to get you up to speed on Inkling’s business, vision and team and gain an understanding about how your role fits into Inking's broader organization
- Engineering focused onboarding program to learn about our systems and processes
- Learning the topography of Inkling's systems
- Participating in peer code reviews
Within 3 months…
- Moving our applications into Kubernetes, ArgoCD and Github Actions
- Writing Infrastructure As Code using Terraform and Ansible
- Building and maintaining Bash and Python scripts
Within 6 months…
- Participating in On-Call rotation (we rarely get paged)
- Operating with more autonomy as you learn Inkling's systems
Within 12 months…
- Performing statements of work for customers
- Refining processes to make them more efficient
Environment and additional requirements:
- General office environment working remotely, supporting team members in various time zones
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Minimal travel required, less than 10%

Per California law, we are required to post the targeted compensation range for this position, which is $90,000 to $120,000 per year, dependent on experience and skill level.
Salary : $90,000 - $120,000
