Description
As an Electronic Technician II at SQM, you’ll play a key role in assembling, testing, and repairing advanced electronic equipment that supports INIT’s world-class intelligent transportation systems. You’ll work hands-on with digital and analog circuits, ensuring all components meet rigorous quality standards and contribute to reliable, cutting-edge transit technology.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and test electronic assemblies, components, and circuit boards
- Perform manual soldering and rework with attention to IPC workmanship standards
- Assemble and test electrical devices according to detailed instructions and quality guidelines
- Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Interpret and work from schematics, assembly drawings, and technical documentation
- Complete administrative and reporting tasks accurately and on time
- Maintain ESD protection protocols and a clean, organized workspace
- Support other manufacturing and quality initiatives as assigned
Education & Experience
- Associate Degree in Electronics or equivalent technical training (preferred)
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience as an electronics technician in a manufacturing environment
- Soldering certification (preferred)
- Strong understanding of analog and digital electronic circuitry
- Proficient in the use of diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and power supplies
- Familiarity with crimping tools, testing procedures, and board-level repairs
- Knowledge of Windows-based systems (Windows XP, 7, or later)
- Working knowledge of IPC standards and ESD practices
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate clearly and collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Visual acuity to distinguish fine circuit details, color variations, and tones
- Must comply with ESD safety requirements in designated areas
