Job Overview
An Intake/Scheduler Specialist role is critical to the success of medical practice, as they are the person that is driving proper scheduling, billing and initial clinical care. This role is often considered the face of the practice because they are the first point of contact for patients and referral sources.
This position will require exceptional organizational and communication skills to ensure a smooth flow of medical operations from a remote location. You will be managing patient appointments and coordinating with healthcare providers by scheduling, rescheduling, cancelling appointments using geographic scheduling software. Using this software, you will learn how to accurately map provider panels and optimize driving time for home-based primary care practices.
In addition to scheduling, you will be responsible for all intake, referrals and document management. Intake/Scheduler Specialists will gather all new patient paperwork while maintaining accurate patient records.
We require our team to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, as a large part of our business requires communication with clients, patients, caregivers, etc. Our company uses multiple programs which require quick learners, with strong computer skills. As with many Healthcare companies we are everchanging and require someone with the ability to think critically and be flexible as a part of the team in our fast-paced business.
Duties
- Obtains all necessary information
- Demographic, financial and clinical through contact with patient, caregivers, referral agencies, etc.
- Utilizes appropriate systems to track all incoming new patients, the status of their paperwork and benefit information
- Schedule, reschedule and cancel patient appointments
- Coordinate with providers to manage their schedules
- Maintain accurate and up to date patient records
- Collaborating with staff to improve efficiency
- Participate in training as needed
- All other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Preferred - minimum of two (2) years’ experience in medical practice intake/scheduling or similar role
- Preferred - clinical background experience in medical clinic
- Must encompass compassion, resourcefulness, and be a team player
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Must complete and pass HIPAA compliance courses provided by RMS
- Must have the ability to multitask and manage time effectively
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding problem solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills
- Microsoft Office Suite experience.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
