About us
Inglés en Acción is a growing ESL program that serves Spanish-speaking adult learners with practical, accessible English instruction. We use a comprehensible-input approach — including TPRS methodology — to help students build real confidence for work, daily life, and their communities. As we expand into in-person instruction, we're looking for a passionate, bilingual instructor to join our team.
What you'll do
- Teach English to Spanish-speaking adult learners in small groups (online and/or in-person)
- Use comprehensible input techniques (including TPRS) to make lessons engaging and low-stress
- Bridge understanding in Spanish when necessary to clarify concepts and build student confidence
- Teach practical, real-world language skills relevant to students' work and community lives
- Track student progress and adapt instruction to different proficiency levels
- Collaborate with program leadership on curriculum development and scheduling
Required
- Fluent bilingual in English and Spanish (spoken and written)
- Experience teaching or tutoring adults
- Patient, encouraging teaching presence
- Flexibility with evenings or weekend scheduling
Class Schedule & Hours
Our classes run in 3.5-month sessions. Teachers may choose the schedule(s) that best fit their availability.
Available Teaching Times:
Monday & Wednesday
- 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
- 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Tuesday & Thursday
- 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM
- 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM
Saturday
- 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Sunday
- 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Teachers are not required to work all available schedules and may select one or multiple class times based on their availability.
**THIS IS A CONTRACT POSITION, NO BENEFITS ARE AVAILABLE FOR THIS ROLE**
A note on bilingualism
Full bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish is mandatory for this role — not preferred. You'll use Spanish to build rapport, explain concepts, and make students feel at home while keeping instruction English-centered. If you're not conversationally fluent in Spanish, this position isn't a match.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
