Under the direction of the administrator, the classroom teacher is responsible for providing a developmental and instructional program for assigned students. The teacher will focus on development and implementation of student IEP's, planning and implementation of daily instructional activities, monitoring student progress and providing consultation to staff, paraprofessionals, agencies, parents and administrators.

About The Role
Under the direction of the administrator, the classroom teacher is responsible for providing a developmental and instructional program for assigned students. The teacher will focus on development and implementation of student IEP's, planning and implementation of daily instructional activities, monitoring student progress and providing consultation to staff, paraprofessionals, agencies, parents and administrators.
- Provides and coordinates an appropriate, positive learning environment with a variety of activities and materials to support student learning and behavior.
- Prepares and implements daily lesson plans and instructional schedules for assigned students based on Michigan Curriculum Frameworks extended benchmarks, grade level content expectations and individual student goals.
- Develops and implements each student's IEP, monitors student progress toward IEP goals/objectives, and periodically reports on this progress.
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate for K - 5 elementary students with special education endorsement in the area of Emotional Impairment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in programming for students with challenging behaviors and special needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and application of curriculum and behavioral interventions to utilize with students with special needs.
