Category Manager – Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO)

We’re looking for a collaborative, results-producing individual to deliver significant value and mitigate risk for plant and capital services categories while working as part of the Global Sourcing organization. This individual contributor role will be responsible for sourcing, procurement, negotiations, contracting, quality assurance, supplier development and supplier relationship management.

How You Will Impact Ingevity

• Have responsibility for the maintenance, repair and operations (MRO) spend globally including leading large cross-functional project teams through the sourcing and procurement process.
• Develop a global category plan based on current market conditions and the business environment.
• Perform MRO procurement function; including bidder prequalification, form of contract selection, bid solicitation and evaluation, contract negotiation, contract award, contract administration and close out.
• Maintain a largely strategic role with MRO and support sourcing activities for critical parts of the business such as Nitrogen, CO2, general industrial supplies, lab supplies, safety and machined parts.
• Resolve nonconformance issues, back-charges and claims in a timely manner to minimize the Company's exposure. Identify areas of risk within supply chain; implement appropriate mitigation measures.
• Leverage internal networks including outage optimization to deliver best in class performance, total cost effectiveness, value creation and delivery.
• Lead development and execution of complex Sourcing strategies and projects over the medium and long term for materials and services aligned with the goals and objectives of the internal stakeholders.
• Collaborate effectively internally and with suppliers. Develop effective multi-year strategies with an effective understanding of market dynamics and internal demand. Responsible for the end-to-end cycle of category strategy, sourcing contracting, P2P, Supplier Management and Supplier Quality Management including the development of Supplier Scorecards and KPIs.
• Articulate and gain alignment from senior managers/executives on the implementation of the Sourcing strategies.
• Bring industry leading Sourcing and procurement practices to execute upon the developed strategies.
• Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the supplier relationship management program for key strategic suppliers.
• Develop negotiation strategies which are aligned with the business strategies and lead those negotiations to completion while pursuing full value and mitigating risk.
• Analyze financials, market risk, and supply risk for each project and be able to mitigate risk while bringing the best value to Ingevity.
• Knowledge of legal as well as commercial terms and conditions with the ability to effectively negotiate and draft legal language to mitigate risk.
• Drive results through analytics, business acumen, personal leadership and developing business cases to support Sourcing initiatives.
• Consolidate spending and provide thought leadership to achieve organization outcomes while ensuring that Ingevity’s policies and core values are upheld and adhered to.
  
  

What You Need To Succeed

• Bachelor’s degree required – Business, Engineering or Supply Chain Management preferred. MBA and/or CPM/CPSM preferred.
• Knowledge of the MRO industry and successful strategies for managing MRO spend.
• At least five (5 ) years of sourcing experience or equivalent experience in relevant business categories.
• Minimum two (2 ) years of experience leading large global sourcing initiatives in MRO and indirect categories for a mature sourcing organization.
• Successfully lead negotiations for global, multi-year, multimillion-dollar contracts in capital and indirect categories.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders in Operations, Supply Chain, Product Development and Ingevity Businesses, including senior management and executives.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills are necessary to work across all levels of the organization.
• Project management skills preferred.
• Travel up to 25% as required for supplier audits, development, and visits.
• Must be a team player and adapt well to a multitasking, fast paced environment with changing priorities and challenges.
• General knowledge of SAP enterprise software and Coupa or other Source-to-Pay solution experience is preferred

Working Format: This role follows a hybrid schedule based at our North Charleston, SC headquarters.
