What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technical Project Manager position at Ingenuiti?
Job Title: Technical Project Manager (Localization)
Role Overview
We are looking for a technically-minded, highly analytical Technical Project Manager to join our team in Virginia Beach, VA. This is a unique hybrid role designed for a "builder" and a "fixer." You will manage the end-to-end lifecycle of translation projects while simultaneously serving as the technical architect for our workflows.
You don’t need a background in linguistics, but you must be someone who enjoys deconstructing complex files, automating repetitive tasks, and finding "the better way" to do things through technology and critical thinking.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Engineering & Solutions
- File Architecture: Analyze and prepare complex file types (XML, JSON, HTML, PO, etc.) for translation, ensuring code remains intact and localizable content is exposed.
- Workflow Automation: Identify bottlenecks in our current processes and implement scripts or tools (e.g., Python, Regex, or API integrations) to streamline data movement.
- Platform Mastery: Become the power-user of our Translation Management Systems (TMS), configuring project settings, Translation Memories, and Terminology Bases.
- Multimedia Engineering: Deconstruct eLearning packages (SCORM/xAPI) to extract translatable content from slides, quizzes, and variables while maintaining the integrity of the original triggers and animations.
- Multilingual Testing: Perform functional testing of localized courses to ensure that translated text fits within UI boundaries (avoiding "text swell") and that interactive elements function correctly in the target language.
- Troubleshooting: Assist with technical support for translators and clients when file imports fail or software bugs arise.
2. Technical Project Management
- Project Lifecycle: Lead projects from kickoff to delivery, managing schedules, budgets, and vendor assignments.
- Critical Problem Solving: Anticipate risks before they happen. If a client sends 50,000 words in a messy format, you are the one who figures out how to process it efficiently.
- Quality Engineering: Implement automated QA checks to ensure technical integrity and linguistic consistency across all deliverables.
The Ideal Candidate
You are a great fit if:
- You are "Tech-Curious": You might not be a Software Engineer, but you aren't afraid of a command line, you understand how APIs work, and you can write a Regular Expression (Regex) to find a needle in a haystack.
- You think in Systems: When you see a manual task, your first instinct is to ask, "How can I automate this?"
- You are a Documentation Hawk: You believe that if a process isn't documented, it doesn't exist.
- You are an Expert Communicator: You can explain a complex technical bug to a non-technical client or translator without using jargon.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Technical Literacy: Proficiency with data formats (JSON, XML, YAML) and basic scripting/coding logic.
- Analytical Mindset: Proven ability to troubleshoot software issues and think through "if/then" scenarios.
- Authoring Tool Familiarity: Experience (or a strong desire to learn) the backend of eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline 360, Rise, or Adobe Captivate.
- DTP/Layout Awareness: An eye for design and layout, specifically regarding how different languages (like German or Arabic) impact the visual flow of an eLearning slide.
- Project Management: Experience managing multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment (LSP experience is a plus, but not required).
- Software Savvy: Advanced Excel skills (formulas, macros, data cleaning) and a quick ability to learn new SaaS tools.
Why Join Us?
