We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support daily manufacturing quality activities and assist with upcoming product launches. While the primary focus will be on managing and sustaining existing quality systems, approximately 20% of the role will involve coordinating APQP/PPAP requirements for a group of ~10 part numbers tied to automotive programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day‑to‑day quality decision-making to ensure only conforming product is shipped.
- Support material containment activities, including timely rework, shipment, or scrap disposition.
- Support and facilitate 8D problem-solving for internal and external defects.
- Conduct layered process audits and internal product audits.
- Partner with Operations through daily floor walks to verify process adherence and product quality.
- Maintain and update quality documentation, including job instructions, inspection standards, PFMEAs, and Control Plans.
- Support APQP and PPAP deliverables for assigned part numbers as programs move toward SOP.
- Support engineering changes and ensure quality system compliance throughout implementation.
- Support process improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, defects, and customer complaints.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or other related field or equivalent work experience
- Experience in automotive manufacturing or similar regulated industry preferred.
- Strong understanding of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and root-cause analysis tools.
- Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence quality outcomes on the production floor.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and proactive in managing quality systems and documentation.
