The Role
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines.
Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical systems such as thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy.
Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.
Must Have
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university and 2 years of experience

Master of Science degree or above in Engineering from an ABET accredited university and 0 years of experience
Must be a current employee of Ingalls Shipbuilding
Nice to Have
Strong critical thinking skills; able to “think outside the box” to develop creative solutions to problem statements; Self-starter and motivated to problem solve Ability to field waterfront issues as they emerge Ability to develop and manage to budget and schedule of individual project line items Experience using tracking/monitoring tools such as ROI, performance, cost, etc Able to manage projects with little supervision from manager Comfortable working alone but also in a team environment where cross collaboration is critical to executing tasks Strong communication & presentation skills.
