Billing Clerk

Overview

The successful Billing Clerk will be someone who has a strong understanding of financial business practices, documents, and accounts. They should possess an investigative mindset, help find discrepancies and make corrections accordingly. The Billing Clerk must be able to work independently with little supervision.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Review financial statements, invoices, checks and other documents. Scan documents to organize them into electronic filing folders, create a to-do list to achieve by the end of the workday.
• Review accounts receivable documents to identify payment needs from customers/clients.
• Send reminder emails or statements to customers/clients outlining the amount and date due.
• Calculate bills for clients/patients.
• Review work for Accuracy
• Must be detailed oriented.

Experience/Skills/Education:

• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Strong communication skills is required
• Knowledge of reading and interpreting Insurance Explanation of Benefits is preferred but not required.
• Must be detailed oriented.
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and resource management skills.
• Ability to manage complex and changing calendars.
• Ability to interact effectively and courteously with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and meet established or anticipated deadlines.
• Ability to take on a wide range of duties and projects and prioritize appropriately.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all work performed.
• Create a safe, effective environment and professionalism

Physical Demands:

Required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear; required to use hands to operate vehicles and office equipment; must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
