What are the responsibilities and job description for the Water/ Wastewater Estimator position at Infrastructure Engineering & Construction Inc?
As an Estimator, you will be part of the business development team and will be involved in identifying opportunities, create a proposal package and pursue the opportunity to conclusion. Duties will include opportunity assessment, bid / no-bid decision with the management, quantity take offs for assigned projects, requesting market pricing for various civil, mechanical and electrical items, putting together the proposal package, attending bid openings, pre bid meetings and putting together a qualifications package. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is very detailed oriented, ambitious and willing to put in the effort to grow with the company which is experiencing double digit growth for several years in a row now.
Duties and responsibilities
Reviews bid specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and define line items of estimate.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit price and manhour costs.
- Provides technical input regarding project and contract risks to lead estimator responsible for final bid price approval. Review final estimate to ensure defined work aligns with overall project schedule and cost goals.
- Prepares discipline estimates by doing a complete takeoff of scope of work. Calculate material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions.
- Liaison with clients, vendors, or other consultants to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve unknowns in an estimate.
- Perform additional assignments per management’s direction.
- Monitors client addendum and advise the estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
- Assists with design review and recommends best solution based on cost, constructability, or availability of materials.
- Partners with estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between business development team and project management team.
- Researches and recommends vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve cost and schedule goals.
- Performs work on multiple projects concurrently with ability to prioritize.
- Review pertinent documentation/conduct site visit as necessary for constructability assessments e.g. installation access, man lifts, scaffolding, cranes, power lines etc.
Qualifications
- Associates Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field required.
- 10 years experience in construction industry, estimating or cost control required.
- Experience in estimating Water projects (water / wastewater treatment) is mandatory.
- Texas market experience highly preferred.
- Working knowledge Timberline/SAGE Estimating Software
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Time management and strong prioritization skills to meet tight turnaround and bid deadlines.
- The position may require travel and extended workdays

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
