Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering (ICE) is seeking Transportation Construction Inspectors to support roadway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects along the Georgia and South Carolina coast. What You'll Work On
Inspect and monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, contract requirements, and quality standards. This role includes field inspections, documentation, materials testing, quantity tracking, and coordination with project teams.
Key Responsibilities
Georgia: ART, EDBT, Concrete Technician I & II, Work Zone Traffic Control, ACI Field Testing Technician
South Carolina: Concrete Technician, Asphalt Roadway Technician, Earthwork & Base Technician, Foundations Certification, Nuclear Gauge Safety Certification
This position requires regular field work on active construction sites, including standing, walking, climbing, lifting, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Night and weekend work may be required based on project schedules.
Safety Requirement
For positions involving field work, completion of OSHA 10 certification is required as a condition of employment. New hires without current certification must complete the training within two (2) weeks of hire. ICE will provide the training and cover associated costs.
Physical Demands
The role involves moderate physical activity such as walking, standing, bending, and climbing stairs or ladders. Employees may occasionally lift objects weighing up to 80 pounds. It is essential for employees to navigate construction sites skillfully and conduct thorough inspections of materials and structures. Employees must have the ability to visually discern and differentiate details and colors of objects, and proficiency in recognizing sound, tone, and pitch. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are necessary. The role demands adaptability to interruptions and changes in workflow, as well as the capacity to sit for extended periods. Employees must be capable of working in varied environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and noisy settings, and be able to stand and walk during site visits. Additionally, working on construction projects may involve night work and weekend work depending on the project scope, and may include working in conditions with active traffic.
Expected Hours of Work
The ICE offices are open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The work schedule will vary according to the project schedule - night work and weekend work are required as the schedule demands.

- Observe and document daily construction activities
- Inspect roadway, bridge, drainage, and utility work
- Verify compliance with plans, specifications, and safety requirements
- Sample and test construction materials
- Measure quantities and maintain project records
- Review contractor submittals and report non-compliance issues
- Complete daily reports and project documentation
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering preferred
- GDOT and/or SCDOT inspection experience preferred
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Strong math, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver's license and ability to work in field environments
- Inspector I
- 0–3 years of construction inspection experience
- Ability to obtain required certifications within six months
- Inspector II
- 3 years of transportation construction inspection experience
- Current DOT certifications preferred
- Experience with roadway, bridge, asphalt, concrete, drainage, or earthwork inspection
