Job Purpose
You will be primarily responsible for originating and executing opportunities across infrastructure and energy sectors. As well as the execution of transactions, a significant part of the role will be to input into the business development strategy for target sectors and take an active role in its implementation, with the objective of delivering opportunities in the rapidly changing infrastructure markets that will make attractive risk adjusted returns for InfraRed’s funds.
It is expected that the Vice President will be able to lead transactions and execution processes, with a high degree of commercial judgment and analytical ability, competently managing all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Take a lead role in the executing and structuring of investments (predominantly acquisitions but may also include greenfield investments, refinancings and disposals) efficiently and at all times in accordance with InfraRed’s deal execution processes
- Manage appraisal and detailed analysis of investment opportunities including reviewing relevant source documentation, appointing, managing and questioning due diligence advisers and overseeing creation of and reviewing outputs from underlying project financial models
- Reviewing and negotiating investment-related documentation such as sale and purchase agreements, shareholder agreements, subcontracts, and financing documents; and reviewing (where appropriate) existing agreements (e.g. subcontracts) for commercial logic, red flags and adequacy
- Representing InfraRed in meetings with vendors, acquisition partners, co-shareholders, advisers, financiers and contractors on transactions
- Contributing to originating potential investment opportunities across sectors
- Cultivating an existing network of market contacts – and growing this network in tandem with colleagues
- Contributing to the thought leadership and strategic initiatives
- Prepare and contribute to presentations of investment opportunities to the Investment Committee
- On a selective basis, monitoring investments, including potentially representing InfraRed on Boards of investment companies
- Participating fully in all reporting processes
- Proactively make available know-how to other team members through line management and active participation in training (informal and formal); and contributing to the enhancement and efficiency of transaction processes
- Assisting with fundraising and reporting to investors as required
- Mentor and develop Analysts & Associates
Skills and Qualifications
- Significant prior relevant experience (min. 6 years) working within the infrastructure industry in North America with transactional experience in making investments either as a sponsor, principal or in an investment advisory capacity
- Strong proven relationship building and origination experience
- Solid analytical abilities
- Evidence of working as part of an investment team together with asset and portfolio management teams
- Results oriented as demonstrated through a track record of successful transactions and value driven initiatives
- High energy level, motivation and focus to make things happen within a lean and non-hierarchical environment with a fast paced, high growth and highly demanding culture
The base salary range offered for this position is between $180,000 - $210,000 per annum. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
