Job Title: Senior Machining Manufacturing Engineer
Pay Rate: $55to $59/HR
Duration: 12 months
Location: Draper, UT (Onsite)
Our Client is a Global medical device Manufacturer.
We are looking for a Senior Machining Manufacturing Engineer to provide sustaining engineering support for precision-machined medical device components, initially focusing on the nut, bolt, and distal plate. The engineer will improve manufacturability, process capability, yield, cycle time, and production reliability while supporting ongoing manufacturing needs.
- Provide sustaining engineering support for precision-machining processes.
- Identify and implement improvements to tooling, fixtures, workstations, setups, cutting parameters, and process controls.
- Troubleshoot dimensional variation, surface-finish defects, burrs, tool wear, scrap, rework, and process instability.
- Analyze the interaction between part design, tolerances, materials, machining methods, and inspection requirements.
- Lead structured root-cause investigations and engineering studies using data and statistical methods.
- Support process qualifications, validations, nonconformance investigations, and corrective actions.
- Update work instructions, process documentation, risk assessments, and technical reports.
- Partner with machinists, technicians, Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and other engineering functions.
- Verify that implemented improvements are effective, documented, and sustainable.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
- Five or more years of manufacturing, machining, process-development, or sustaining-engineering experience.
- Hands-on engineering experience with Swiss turning, CNC milling, micromachining, or similar precision-machining processes.
- Strong knowledge of engineering drawings, GD&T, tooling, fixturing, cutting parameters, dimensional control, and process capability.
- Experience with root-cause analysis, engineering studies, and data-driven process improvement.
- Ability to work effectively on the manufacturing floor and independently drive projects to completion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical device or other regulated manufacturing experience.
- Experience with tight-tolerance, complex metal components.
- Experience with Swiss turning or multi-axis machining.
- Knowledge of process validation, equipment qualification, statistical process control, and measurement-system analysis.
- CAD, CAM, CNC programming
- Lean or Six Sigma experience.
