JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to join our operating room team. In this role, you will work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and registered nurses to deliver safe and efficient patient care. Your primary responsibilities include preparing the operating room, maintaining a strict sterile field, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team during procedures. Enjoy a reliable schedule with no weekend shifts and your choice of working five 8-hour days or four 10-hour days.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, sterile drapes, and necessary solutions.
- Review surgeon preference cards to ensure all specific equipment and supplies are readily available.
- Maintain a rigorous aseptic technique and strictly enforce sterile field boundaries throughout operations.
- Pass instruments, sutures, and supplies safely and efficiently to the surgeon and surgical assistants.
- Lead and document accurate instrument, needle, and sponge counts with the circulating nurse before, during, and after surgery.
- Assist in the safe positioning, prepping, and draping of patients on the operating table.
- Clean, decontaminate, and restock the operating room following procedures, and safely dispose of biomedical waste.
- Maintain professional composure and respond quickly to changing conditions in a fast-paced environment.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology training program (Associate Degree or Certificate).
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) designation from the NBSTSA is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in a hospital operating room or ambulatory surgery center preferred.
- Strong knowledge of surgical instrumentation, medical terminology, and human anatomy.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods during long surgical cases.
- Capability to lift, push, and pull equipment or assist with patient transfers weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent manual dexterity, visual acuity, and hand-eye coordination.
Pay: $40.00 - $45.00 per hour
