Overview:
- Title: Respiratory Care Practitioner
- Location: Urbana, IL
- Start Date: 03/30/2026
- Duration: 13 weeks (Possible extension)
- Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (3 shifts/week, 36 hrs/week)
Responsibilities:
- Disassemble, clean, package, and maintain respiratory equipment
- Prepare and test equipment for safe operation; report malfunctions
- Chart accurately in EMR (respiratory flow sheets, care plans, charges)
- Complete assessments on ventilator patients and others receiving respiratory care
- Recommend interventions and further treatment/referrals as needed
- Record procedures, patient responses, and compliance with sleep therapy documentation
- Evaluate patients for routine respiratory therapy (inpatient & ER)
- Obtain and analyze blood gases (arterial, venous, capillary)
- Assist with stocking respiratory supplies on inpatient units
Requirements:
- Education: Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy (required)
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Illinois RCP license
- NBRC Certified Respiratory Therapist
- BLS (AHA)
- Skills:
- Respiratory care competency
- Clinical judgment & technical skills
- EMR charting
- Ventilator assessments
- Blood gas analysis
- Equipment cleaning & maintenance
